Hanzhong and Baoji Aston English Schools -- Friday, 19 September 2008, at 10:27 a.m.

Hanzhong and Baoji Aston English Schools are now recruiting teachers for the September term. Hanzhong Aston English School requires five teachers and Baoji Aston English School requires four English Teachers. The Baoji location also requires a Foreign Manager.

Both of our schools are part of Aston English, a large group of English Language Schools with a reputation for high quality teaching in China.

We are looking for teachers who can begin teaching at the beginning of September, and we are more than happy to accomodate teachers who wish to arrive a little earlier.

Hanzhong is quite a small city, but one with a long history and a rich culture. The people are friendly, the food is delicious, and the environment very clean. Almost two thousand years during the Three Kingdoms period Hanzhong was a city of strategic importance, and many traces of this period still survice today, in spite of the fast development that is common in all Chinese cities. So, right beside a brand new KFC there is a monument ("Tiger Head Bridge") to that period, and many of the children you teach will be very familiar with the characters in the popular novel "The Romance of the Three Kingdoms" (San Guo Yan Yi).

Xi'an, former capital of China, is also very near - three hours by coach on the new highway that cuts through the Qin Ling mountains (a huge group of mountains reportedly home to tigers, rare monkeys, and even pandas!). This city, both ancient and modern, can provide you with everything you might need in your free time. In Xi'an you will not only find the world famous Terracotta Warriors, ancient pagodas, and museums chronicling the city's long history, but also modern shopping centres, Western luxuries, and a large population of foreign students, teachers, and travellers.

Anything is possible once you arrive in Hanzhong: you can save money by living life in the local area and travelling around the many beautiful sites that surround Hanzhong; or you can use Hanzhong as a starting point for longer journeys, perhaps going west to Chengdu (home to a very large Buddha), or south to Chongqing (famous for it delicious hotpot), or even going on trips out as far as Beijing and Shanghai (both of which are connected to Hanzhong by train).

Baoji Aston is a similar size to Hanzhong Aston, but Baoji itself is a larger, more developed city, with better shopping and a far diverse nightlife; the flipside of Baoji's size, of course, is that it feels busier and noisier than Hanzhong. An hour from Baoji is Tai Bai Shan, a wild and beautiful mountain with an important place in Chinese history - making a trip here is essential wherever you are based. Baoji also has the advantage of being very close to Xi'an - fifty minutes by the new express trains.

Both Hanzhong Aston and Baoji Aston are looking for teachers who can begin working in September. Below is what we are offering to teachers who are interested in coming to work in one of our excellent locations:

- a very competive salary of 5000 RMB a month for a maximum of 20 hours teaching a week;

- a fully furnished shared apartment to the school;

- a full package of teacher training and support throughout the period of the contract;

- a clean and safe working environment, with enthusiastic Chinese colleagues who are always happy to help when you have problems;

- a Z-visa and Residence Permit, the paperwork for which is handled by the school prior to your leaving your home country;

- a bonus, on completion of your contract, of between 200 and 500 USD;

- Free Chinese lessons

We require that all teachers are native English speakers, preferably from either the United Kingdom, Canada, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, or the United States.

All applicants should:

- have a university of college degree;

- be at least 21 years of age;

- enjoy teaching English to children of all ages

Ideally, applicants will have some experience of teaching English as a foreign language; but prior experience is not essential. It is however essential that applicants are prepared to work as a member of our team, that they have a large reservoir of ideas, energy, and enthusiasm, and most importantly that they have a strong desire to develop their skills as a teacher during their time in China.

If you think you can play a part in making our schools better and better, please call Gareth on 008613772203021 or send an email to gjelley@gmail.com. We greatly look forward to hearing from you.
